Summary

I have been a webdesigner since the profession started back in the late 1900s, and look forward to an exciting future in this area. Along with webdesign, I am skilled at graphic design and video. I enjoyed the process of finding solutions to challenges, when working as part of the small team of web masters responsible for the university’s prominent web site www.mum.edu. Our team used the software Dreamweaver to create and edit the HTML for this extensive site.

Managing Director and Senior Designer, Soma Web Design, Dunedin, New Zealand 2001 - 2003

At Soma Web Design www.soma.co.nz, I designed, constructed and maintained web sites, and performed search engine optimization. I was a consultant advising on companies’ web strategy, and wrote for, designed, and constructed, email newsletters. As well as designing advertisements and company branding, I produced, directed, shot and edited videos for private clients and gave private tutoring in digital design. I oversaw all aspects of Soma Web Design, including the business plan, and accounting practices.

Clients included: Capital Management Partners, The Very Useful Picture Company, Swing Thru International, SI Computers, Alpine Air, Hillmorton Medical Centre, Ivy, Toni Darling, Akimbo, Starbabies, The Bureau Interactive, Pinnacle Cars, Stevenson Consulting, Greenslades, artist Jim Shrosbree and artist Dale Divoky.

The Video Factory, Dunedin, New Zealand, Jan 2001 - Feb 2002

I was sole offline editor for this highly popular television program for children, known as ‘Squirt’. The editing consisted of mainly documentary items. During the period I worked at Video Factory I edited over 4hr30min of nationally broadcast television.

Director of International Admissions, Maharishi University of Management, Fairfield, Iowa, USA, 2003-2004

My role as Director was to manage the Office of International Admissions, at a small, liberal arts college in Iowa. The challenge was to increase efficiency to compensate for staff cuts, and increase the number of worthwhile applications received. I tackled this challenge by streamlining application processing procedures, using the database intelligently to generate applications, and improving customer service strategies in the office. In this time I supervised a team of up to 9 people, trained new staff members. As a result of my directorship, the number of applications received increased significantly.
